Edward entered the classroom alone and took his seat at the back of the class. He didn't know where Bella was that day, and was searching the minds of everybody around him. Nobody seemed to have seen her, which was a shame. He'd shown up at her house that morning to pick her up, but it seemed she'd already left for school. This was odd, very odd, but he figured she had a good reason for it.
But it was ever so frustrating. He could read everyone else's mind, but not hers, and although normally it was okay and he'd learned not to let it bother him, when he didn't know where she was, it was aggravating. She was a free girl, though, and could go places without him... but that was, and never had been, very usual of her.
Ever since he'd returned to Forks, she'd been by his side every day and night. Or, rather, he'd been by hers. He was too afraid of losing her again, and even though she was terribly grounded, he found his way into her room each night.
Well, lately he'd been trying to follow Charlie's rules. He didn't have to, but he felt it was the right thing to do. Charlie already didn't like him, and even though Bella's father would never know that Edward was visiting Bella outside of his allotted time, Edward felt as if it were betraying Charlie's already severed trust.
So it was first block, and he'd seen hide nor hair of his beautiful Bella.

Harper was already late for her first class. It was Trig and she hated that subject but she could do without another detention. She ran down the hall, not even bothering to put her stuff away in her locker. She peaked in through the door. People were still talking, so maybe she wasn't as late as she thought. She went to open the door and right on target, the bell rang. Perfect Harper thought. Everyone else sat down in their seats. Harper started heading towards hers until she noticed someone was already sitting in it. She quickly rushed to the nearest seat before the teacher could notice. The seat she rushed to, happened to be right next to Edward Cullen. Which probably wasn't a good idea. Bella usually sat here and by the looks of it, she wasn't here today. Harper never even talked to Edward. Probably because he never gave anyone the time of day except Bella. She looked at him from the corner of her eye. He was sitting there, like a stone cold statue. Harper sighed. This class was going to be longer than usual.

Edward forgot to breath and tensed up as the girl sat next to him. He knew that she was new, and that she probably no idea that he didn't like sitting next to people he didn't know. He could read her mind, though, and it seemed that she knew Bella sat there.
Looking around, he realized that there were no other seats available in the classroom. That was odd, as most of the classes weren't as full as this one, but Trig had become one of the more popular classes. He accepted that he'd have to sit next to this girl, and if Bella came, he'd just explain that it wasn't his choice. He hoped and prayed that Bella wouldn't be upset by it... and he was sure she wouldn't. She was more understanding than that.
He didn't know if he should say anything to... What's her name? And she wasn't thinking her name, so he had to resort to asking for it. "Hi... I don't believe we've ever spoken before. I'm Edward, and you are?"

Harper was staring down at her book. The more she stayed focused on this class, though she didn't understand what was going on, the faster it would be over. So far her theory wasn't working. Someone was talking and they had the most beautiful voice ever. She looked up, seeing that it was Edward and that he was talking to her. She instantly froze, which never happens to her. Harper is usually one of the most out-going people you'll probably ever meet in your lifetime. But when it came to someone like Edward, that wasn't the case. "I'm Harper." She said and managed a smile.

Well, that wasn't unexpected at all. He read her mind again, and suddenly decided he sort of wished he didn't have that power. It made him uncomfortable to know so many girls found him attractive (and a few guys, he'd come to discover), and he loved Bella more than anything. But he didn't have to worry about anything. He wasn't attracted to this beauty at all. She didn't call out to him the way Bella did.
"Very nice to meet you." He said, turning his attention back to his teacher. He sat there, very still, trying to pay attention to the teacher. Not that he needed to, of course, because he already knew the answers to the question on the board.

He may have been beautiful, but he sure wasn't very social. Harper looked at him, not caring if she was making him uncomfortable or not. He was probably used to people staring at him anyways. She wondered how he could just sit there, so motionless. She leaned in closer to him. "Do you always sit like that?" She whispered. Suddenly she wasn't so frozen and shy. He was a person just like everyone else. But she couldn't help but wonder where Bella was. She'd never really talked to her, since she was quite new around here, but Bella did seem nice.

"Sometimes." He said in a whisper only she could hear. "Now if you don't pay attention to to the teacher, you're going to have no idea what to do on the homework."
He glanced at her momentarily, then drew his eyes away from her. "Or do you not care if you do it at all?" He didn't even have to read her mind for that one. If she really cared, she wouldn't be talking to him at all. But she was, and thus gave that impression.

Harper looked at him, her eyebrow raised. His bluntness was completely surprising. She looked down at her book, it looked difficult, but if she took some time out from drawing she would probably understand it. "It's not that I don't care. It's just that I don't think I'm going to be using Trig in my near future." She stated. "The career I want has absolutely nothing to do with this stuff." She said in a somewhat disgusted tone. Her younger brother had loved numbers and figuring things out. He had always encouraged her to stick with it because you never know. But once he was gone, she just simply gave up, and not only in math, in other things too.

He was silent, having heard her thoughts about her brother. He wondered if the brother was dead, or simply not around. Or was he completely mistaken, and he was still around? "I suppose that's true." He said. "I'm only in this class for Bella." He knew she knew who Bella was, so there was no need to elaborate. "But you do still need to pass the class."
He wasn't quite sure why he was talking to Harper. He never talked to anyone other than Bella and Alice.

She nodded. "Who says I won't pass?" She asked him, meaning of course that she would. Even though she hated the class and would have no use for it, colleges wouldn't accept her unless she did pass. Harper couldn't help but wonder why he was talking to her also. From what people say, he usually talks with his small group, which consisted of his siblings and Bella of course. But Harper had to admit that she did enjoy his company, though she was positive he wasn't enjoying hers. Harper didn't understand why that when it came to Edward and his family, people talk about them instead of to them. Sure, they weren't exactly welcoming, well at least Edward wasn't, but they probably weren't all too bad. Harper could tell that their conversation wasn't over joying him, but if he just pushed her away, she'd just come back. Harper wasn't one to back off so easily.

Edward just shrugged and tried to ignore her thoughts. He didn't want to read anything that might get in him trouble later.
"Nobody said you wouldn't pass," he said sternly, "all I said was that you still need to pass the class. And trig isn't one of those pass-the-time classes. Most people find it difficult." He emphisized most because he already knew how to do all of this. All he had to do was get into the teacher's head... that, and he'd learned this stuff before.
He knew he wasn't going to get rid of her very easily. He didn't have to read her mind for that one, but he did anyway. She was a stubborn girl, and he found that somewhat admirable, but it was a bit irritating none the less. He supposed Bella would want him to be nice to her, though.

Ro skidded into class nearly 15 minutes late. She took a look around the class room and decided to sit in the row second from the back. Absent mindedly, Ro stared out the window. Ro noticed that people WEREN'T staring for once. Ro found it odd, but quickly dismissed it... Waiting for the class to start, she turned around to face the boy behind her. Someone had told her earlier, that his name was Edward Cullen. " Erm. hi," she said in a heavy british accent." I'm new, my name is Rohesia McRiley.. Please call me Ro, my name's too old fashioned for modern times." Ro clapsed her hand over her mouth, hoping she hadn't let on anything, or at the least caused suspicion
