Shopping: it wasn't something Edward enjoyed. Alice and Rosalie were the queens of shopping. He, on the other hand, avoided it like a plague. Or, since he couldn't be sickened by a plague, he avoided it like he avoided werewolves.
But today he had no choice. He wanted to get Bella a ring, now that she had agreed to marry him. He needed to get her the prettiest, most beautiful ring worthy of her. And that, he was sure, was going to be hard to do. It was like no ring he saw was good enough for her. Not one, of the hundreds he'd seen, was good enough for his Bella.
So he'd decided to go for a walk. The sun was setting, and he didn't feel like walking at the pier. He decided to go along the back part of town, the part where he'd once saved Bella from being... he didn't want to think about what those men were thinking. It made him angry, and it made him want to go looking for them.
But he restrained himself and kept his hands in his pockets, strolling down the street. There was nobody in site. He could hear the thoughts of everybody nearby, but none of them were close.
