"MOM!" Gabrielle called down the stairs to her mother. "MOM! WHERE'S THAT DRESS!?" Donatella pulled food out of the oven. "UNDER YOUR BED!" "WHY'S IT UNDER MY BED?" Gabrielle called, exasperated. "NO IDEA, JUST GET READY, UNLESS YOU WANT HIM TO SEE YOU NAKED!" Gabrielle turned and dashed back into her room and grabbed the dress from under her bed, puting it on in a hurry. She tossed on some high heeled shoes, something she never wore, and hurried down the stairs. "Mommy, how do I look?" She bit down on her lip. "Like a hoochie." She said, her Italian accent strong. "Thanks, Mom." Gabrielle said, put off. "I'm just kidding, you look beautiful." Gabrielle smiled and hugged her mom. "You'll love him. I promise." "I better. Mother always knows best, you know. Remember that story I told you about the girl who didn't--" "Mom, there are a ton. Now... are you ready?" Gabrielle looked at herself in the mirror, a bit panicked. Donatella hugged her daughter, looking at a picture of her late husband, Joe, on the wall. "I wish your father could be here..." "Let's not spoil this, okay?" Gabrielle pulled out of her mother's grasp and headed into the living room. "He'll be here momentarily." Dress:

Jake rode up the street, something tucked protectively in his jacket as he biked up the road. He turned on his blinker to turn into her drive way when a car appeared and slammed into the front wheel of the bike. He flew into the air, tumbling onto the front of the car and slamming into the roof and then the trunk and hit the pavement hard. The bike smashed into the ground a few feet away as the car took off. He laid there for a moment, stunned at what had just happened. His black peacoat was now opened, exposing his silver and black shirt. His black jeans were ripped now and blood poured from a deep gash in his knee then healed slowly. He had scratches all over his body. "Man... that hurt a little." He stood up and dusted himself off. Shirt:

Gabrielle came flying out of the house, scared by the noise she'd heard. "What the--JAKE!" She cried out, covering her mouth. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She knew he was, but she asked all the same. Werewolf or not, she still worried about human injuries. She was still learning that he could heal quickly.
Donatella came out of the house with her, following Gabrielle to the scene of the accident. "Well, I'm not sure if I like you riding with him if he gets into accidents." She said into her daughter's ear.
"Shut up mom and go inside." She said, not caring that she was being rather rude to her mother.
Donatella huffed and went back inside. "Jake..." Gabrielle said, standing next to him.

"Huh?" He looked down and shook his head to clear it. "That hurt a little." He rubbed his neck and looked at the wreckage that was his bike. "There goes my form of transportation." He sighed. "Sorry... I... kinda was being foolish." The werewolf ducked his head and kissed her cheek. "What am I going to do now?" He walked over and picked up the bike wreckage and dropped it in the driveway... "There... parked." He laughed and turned around to face her then stopped.
Jesus... is she trying to get my blood boiling?
"You look amazing." He smiled, fighting back the urge to strip her with his eyes. His eye twitched, the way it always did when he was thinking about this. The seventeen year old bit his bottom lip, hard. This was going to be a long dinner. He then pulled a little velvet box from his pocket. April now it had been nearly four months since the incident on the pier. He decided it was time to give it to her. Even if she didn't wear it. "I have something for you."

She smiled, placing her hands on her hips. She tilted her head slightly to one side, knowing exactly what th dress did. It's why she wore it. To, you know, tease them. Well, she didn't actually do much teasing of guys... just Jake. But that's because she could. "Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself. I like that shirt, is it new?"
She looked at the box curiously. "Wh...what's that for?"

Jacob paused then let that same sexy wolf smile cross his face. He was like the wolf who ate the canary... the canary diamond that is. His chocolate brown eye twinkled as he slipped it completely out of his pocket. "It's our one year aniversary." He stepped closer. ((O.o that's one short year...)) "Sort of..." He clicked open the box in his hand. "Of course... you might not want to wear it... yet..." Ring: Engraved on the inside of the ring: "'Til Death Do Us Part."

She let out a gasp, and covered her face with her hands. She stared at the beautiful ring as if it were both the most beautiful and the most terrifying thing she'd ever seen. It was magnificent, and she'd never seen anything so... so... there were no words she could think of to describe the amazingness of the ring. "Jake... it's... so beautiful... why are you giving it to me? I don't deserve this." She wasn't quite comprehending everything. "It's too beautiful for the likes of me."

"It's for you..." He let the same grin cross his face. "I guess you don't know what this is..." He chuckled to himself, as if it were some private joke. "This ring dims next to your beauty." He the proceeded to click it shut. "You can't have it yet." He grinned. "Unless you reaaaally want it... it was my grandmother's engagement ring." He let that same wolfish smile cross his face. "If I gave it to you... you have to promise not to lose it." He leaned towards her, clicking the box back open.

She blushed at the comment, still unable to take them from him without turning red. "Liar." She said in a whisper.
"W-wait. Engagement ring? What? I'm so confused... don't confuse me! I hate being confused, because then I ramble, and when I ramble it's not pretty, then I talk fast and nobody can understand me, then I panic because I can't stop rambling and well I think I'm going to just stop talking because..." she shut up and looked him squarely in the eyes, waiting for an answer.

He tried to make sense of that then came upon a conclusion. "Here." He slipped it onto her left ring finger, it slid on and fit perfectly. "I've been wanting forever to give it to you and I couldn't wait any longer. I'm not asking you to marry me... really... we kinda in a way already are... but... for humans you need a piece of paper." He dropped on one knee, though he was now eye level with her. "Will you marry me... when we graduate from high school?" He looked her in the eye. "And then we'll move back to New Orleans." He told her. "I've already found another pack there." His entire body braced for her to say no. He figured she would.

"I... I... well duh, you idiot." She said, sort of ruining the romantic part of it. But she wasn't one to throw her arms around him and cry, screaming "YES! OF COURSE!" into the night. That might disturb the neighbors.
"And did you not think to ask this fine young woman's mother?" Donatella stood under a tree, her arms crossed over her chest. "Both of you--inside, now. PRONTO!"

Jake blinked. "You're Mrs. Gamarra?" He questioned. "Not the way that I had wanted us to meet but..." He gave a weak smile and pulled out the beautiful boquet of lilies that he had picked earlier that day. "I brought these for you." The beautiful scent of lilies drifted towards her nose as he gently gave them to her and skulked inside the house.

Donatella took the flowers lovingly, but it did not detour her fury. "You too, missy. Now!"
Gabrielle sulked inside after her new... fiance, ready for a bitching. "Mom, before you say anything--"
"Are you two insane?" Donatella slammed the door shut. "You're so young, you're going to ruin your life this way."
"Didn't you and Daddy marry at this age?" Gabrielle knew she had her mother there.
"That's... against the point." Donatella huffed, knowing this was going to come up. She was being hypocritical, she knew, but she didn't want to see her daughter get caught up in a marriage that probably wouldn't last. She said something in Italian.
"Mom!" Gabrielle, although she knew little of the beautiful language, understood that word. "Don't say things like that!"
Donatella sat down on the couch and covered her face with her hands. She let out a muffled, "You don't understand..."
"I think it's you who doesn't understand, Momma." Gabrielle flexed her fingers, the entire subject exhausting her already. "I love him."
"It's puppy love..." Donatella said, shaking her head weakly.
Gabrielle laughed. "Sort of."

Jacob chuckled at that. "Yeah... kinda puppy love..." He looked at Donatella. "Listen ma'am, it's not at all what you think." He looked at Gabrielle. "There's a specific reason why I have to ask her to marry me." He tried to grin but it died halfway. "I'll just let you explain everything to her and if you can't tell everything then I'll do it." He fiddled with the rip in his jeans.

"Thanks, Jake." Gabrielle said dryly. "She'll just send me to Dr. Rogers again and he'll decide I'm skitzo or something, and you, too."
Donatella was confused. "What are you talking about? Specific reason? I don't like the sound of that, boy."
Gabrielle sighed and sat down next to her mother. "Listen, Mom. Trust me that I'm making the right decision, okay? I'm a smart kid, you know I am. I know what I'm doing."
Donatella looked up at Jake and stood, hurrying across the room. She was short, almost shorter than her daughter, and looked straight up at him. "You!" She said, poking him in the chest. "I give you my blessings, but no marriage will happen until I say it is, okay? And that's not until after graduation. And also, she's having a nice, traditional, Catholic wedding like I had. Got it?"
"Mom!" Gabrielle groaned, making the word into multiple syllables.

"Uhm..." He grimaced. He wasn't Catholic. "I really..." He looked at Gabrielle to get him out of this. "I really... I'm afraid I can't do that..." He looked down. "I'm not allowed in Catholic churchs." He grimaced, bad thing to say, "I mean... oh god... we might as well just tell her what I am!" He was getting frustrated.

Gabrielle grabbed his arm and pulled him into the hallway. "Are you insane?" She whispered venemously. "You weren't even supposed to let me know what you are. Why the heck would you tell my mother? And since when aren't you allowed in Catholic churches? I'm Catholic. I go to church. I don't want a Catholic wedding. You just tell my mother that we'll have one, because in the end, she has no say. Got it?"
"What are you two doing out there? Dinner's ready." Her mother's mood was officially destroyed, but she'd worked tirelessly to cook up a wonderful New Orleans-type dinner, and somebody was going to enjoy it.

"I'm sorry. It's just that... Catholics don't... like me if you get my meaning." He sighed. "And I can't lie to your mother!" He tried to stress this to her. "Then she really won't let us marry." He told her. "In my tribe we have to have the blessings of a parent before we marry." He looked at her, his look softening.

"You will lie and you will like it!" She made a disgruntled face and ran her fingers through her hair. "Or we could just not bring up the subject anymore. She said 'I give you my blessings.' So there, we have them. Now, let's eat. I didn't eat today and I'm starving." She turned around, about tripping over the carpet and falling, but grabbed onto the wall instead. "Damn heels." She muttered, walking into the other room.
Donatella was puting the food on the table. "Nice of you to join me."
